About Maxwell James Honey

Maxwell’s journey with indigenous and psychedelic medicines spans more than twenty years. In his teenage years, he faced the challenges of drug addiction and serious illness—struggles that ultimately led him to Kambo. By the age of 21, he had healed himself through this medicine and stepped onto a new path of purpose and transformation.

He began his studies at university with the intention of becoming a doctor of Chinese medicine. Yet a series of profound encounters with Ayahuasca—and a life-changing journey to the Amazon—shifted his direction fully toward indigenous plant medicines and their integration into the modern world.

Over the past decade, Maxwell has become a respected guide and teacher of inner healing, working deeply with Ayahuasca, Iboga, Kambo, Huachuma, Bufo, and other traditional medicines. He spent time living with the Katukina people of Brazil, where he immersed himself in the study of Kambo, Ayahuasca, Rapé, and Sananga, and later in Peru working with the Shipibo and the Q’ero. Of all his experiences, Iboga proved to be the most transformative—calling him to serve others while remaining a devoted lifelong student. He holds deep respect for the Bwiti tradition and continues to pursue opportunities to learn and train within their way, honoring the lineage that has carried Iboga for generations.

Today, Maxwell is dedicated to developing therapeutic, trauma-informed, and integrative approaches to personal growth and spiritual healing. In addition to his work with medicine, he is a certified Breathwork practitioner, TRE provider, Integration and Wellness Coach, and the author of several books. He also offers weekly community classes and monthly Kambo immersions for those wishing to explore indigenous medicine as a way of life. Maxwell currently lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
